World Suicide Prevention Day Commemorated at Salahaddin University-Erbi
On 10 September 2024, Salahaddin University-Erbil (SUE) commemorated World Suicide Prevention Day. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Musa Muhammad, Dean of the College of Arts, and organized in collaboration with the Departments of Social Work and Sociology, the SEED Foundation, and the Azhi Organization.
The commemoration began with an address by the Dean of the College of Arts, who spoke on behalf of SUE. He highlighted the importance of such activities and emphasized the need to establish connections between the scientific departments of the College of Arts—particularly the Departments of Social Work, Sociology, and Psychology—and the community. This collaboration aims to enable faculty members and graduates to contribute to reducing societal issues.
Following the opening remarks, a scientific panel featuring professors and experts in psychology and social sciences was conducted.
This activity, organized at the university level in cooperation with local organizations, is part of a global effort to raise awareness, provide psychological and social support, and promote understanding of mental health and suicide prevention.
The event shows the university's commitment to addressing important social issues and fostering a supportive community environment.
