On 13 January 2026, the symposium entitled “The Impact of Media on Social and Psychological Security in the Kurdistan Region” took place with the attendance of Professor Dr Farhad Ali, Vice President of the University for Student Affairs and Education, and Mr Hajar Osman, Manager of Branch Two, along with a number of academics and students. The Cultural and Academic Centre of Salahaddin University–Erbil organised the symposium in coordination with the International Peshmerga Agency.
The symposium featured two panel discussions focusing on the regulation of media practice.
First panel:
1. Dr Somaya Sami Hassan, Specialist in Social Psychology, Salahaddin University–Erbil (Panel Chair).
2. Narmin Sindi, Advisor at the Council of Ministers.
3. Mr Azad Hamad Amin, Head of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate.
4. Nyan Ahmed Mohammed, Deputy Director General of Media, Printing, and Publishing at the Ministry of Culture and Youth.
5. Professor Dr Hawzhin Omar Mohammed, Head of the Riwa Media Institution and Lecturer in the Media Department.
Second panel: The role of media in safeguarding psychological and social security.
