Under the supervision of Prof. Dr Kamaran Younis M. Amin, President of Salahaddin University–Erbil (SUE), the Enlightenment Committee of the College of Arts will hold a symposium on the occasion of the International Campaign for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, entitled “How to Counter Violence Against Women.”
The event will take place on Monday, 1 December 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in Farhadi Hall at the College of Arts.
The symposium will feature several distinguished speakers:
• Dr Khanzad Ahmed, Secretary-General of the High Council of Women and Development in the Kurdistan Regional Government, will address key issues related to women’s protection and empowerment.
• Naz Falaqaddin Kakayi, Director of the Erbil Public Library, will present a talk on the social impact of women’s writing.
• Assist. Prof. Dr Mohammed Jawdat Omar will discuss the role of language in reducing domestic violence.
• Dr Chnar Naqib will examine the opportunities and challenges posed by new media in confronting violence against women.
Lecturer Mohammed Tayeb, a member of the Enlightenment Committee, will moderate the symposium.
