A delegation from Salahaddin University (SUE) took part in the official Kick-Off Meeting of the MOVE Project.
The meeting was held on 14–15 February 2026 at the University of Sulaimani. This activity followed the project’s formal launch on 2 February and marked a new phase of academic cooperation between the European Union, the Kurdistan Region and Yemen.
The SUE delegation comprised Dr Mahabad Saadi Ali, Erasmus+ Coordinator, Dr Dler Ali Osman and Dr Salih Mustafa Salih from the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences. They joined regional and international partners from the Kurdistan Region, Yemen and Europe to outline the project’s implementation strategy and its six Work Packages (WPs).
On the first day of the meeting, the SUE team delivered a presentation highlighting the University’s academic capacities and its specific expectations within the three-year MOVE Project. The delegation reaffirmed SUE’s commitment to internationalisation, academic excellence and staff capacity-building, particularly in advancing education and expertise in agricultural engineering and community resilience.
During the presentation, Dr Mahabad stated:
“MOVE represents an important bridge between our institutions and Salahaddin University. It offers a valuable opportunity to exchange best practices with our European and Yemeni counterparts, while strengthening the capabilities of our staff and students.”
The two-day event, organised in coordination with the University of Sulaimani, included detailed discussions on each partner’s Work Packages and the necessary logistical coordination. Representatives of SUE played an active role in shaping the project roadmap to ensure that the University’s research and educational objectives are aligned within a broader international framework.
Through a second presentation focused on Work Package Six, SUE assumed responsibility for implementing this component, which centres on developing policies to strengthen links between academia and the labour market. This includes fostering effective collaboration between higher education institutions and external partners, such as private companies and employment-oriented organisations.
The meeting provided an important platform to deepen partnerships among the consortium members, who will collaborate over the coming years to achieve the anticipated outcomes of the MOVE Project.
