Professor Dr Kamaran Younis M. Amin, President of Salahaddin University–Erbil, has launched a joint scholarship programme that sends top-ranked graduates from academic departments to pursue master’s degrees at leading universities in Italy.
The joint scholarship covers all first-ranked graduates from both scientific and humanities departments at Salahaddin University for the academic year 2024–2025. Through this initiative, the University aims to strengthen academic excellence and expand international academic exposure for its highest-achieving students.
As part of the preparatory arrangements, Professor Dr Shareef Maulod Shareef, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, visited Italy on behalf of the University. During the visit, he held a series of important academic coordination meetings with the President of the University of Piedmont in Novara and the President of the University of Pavia in the city of Pavia. These meetings resulted in the signing of two memoranda of understanding that formalised academic cooperation between the institutions.
Under the terms of these agreements, selected students from the academic year 2024–2025 will attend the partner Italian universities to pursue master’s programmes. Salahaddin University will cover tuition fees and laboratory bench fees, while participating students will bear the costs of travel and residence.
