
On 12 December 2024, Asst. Prof. Dr Kamaran Younis M. Amin, President of Salahaddin University-Erbil (SUE), accompanied by Professor Dr. Hussein Saadi, the university's Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, welcomed a delegation from the Lawyers' Association at the university presidency.
The delegation consisted of judges Mamand Baiz, Beshar Majid, human rights advocate Muhammad Saadullah and rights activist Ranj Barawi. Their visit aimed to strengthen the ties between SUE and the Lawyers' Association.
During the meeting, Mr Mamand Baiz extended greetings on behalf of the association's board members. The delegation also presented a letter of support to the university president, requesting a 30% hazard allowance for legal employees.
The university president expressed enthusiasm for collaborative work and full support. Considering the current financial situation in the region, he noted that legal employees can obtain union identification and enjoy benefits for renewing their expired identifications.
In the discussions, Mr Beshar Majid emphasized human development, which forms the foundation of the Lawyers' Association work. He highlighted the union's potential to prepare practical lectures for law college students.
In a spirit of mutual agreement, the university president proposed facilitating housing investments for rights advocates. Subsequently, the delegation visited the university's Legal Affairs and Contracts Directorate, where they closely listened to the legal employees' proposals and requests. They promised support and solutions and received appreciation in return.
