Karwan Kawa Hamakarim, a faculty member in the Department of Environmental Science and Health at the College of Science, participated in a capacity development course on water conservation policy in China.
The course consisted of several seminars on China's advances and efforts in the fields of smart irrigation, desertification prevention, prevention of agricultural land degradation, increasing vegetation rates and agriculture using minimal water ratios, wastewater treatment and recycling, seawater treatment, government operational plans, and company cooperation in irrigation and water management, and several other topics.
During the course, visits were made to several strategic projects, such as the seawater treatment project for Tianjin city, Dayu Company for irrigation development, and Dayu Company's research agricultural field for smart irrigation.
At the end of the course, Mr Hamakarim participated in the 7th China-Arab Countries Exhibition in Yinchuan city. The exhibition was organized to showcase joint work between both sides in various fields, particularly renewable energy, environment, and artificial intelligence, as well as to further strengthen relations between China and neighbouring countries.
