A student project from the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the College of Engineering, Salahaddin University-Erbil, has been recognised as one of the top three projects at the Engineering Project Exhibition.
The project, titled “Detailed 3D Modelling of the Geomatics Engineering Department”, was developed by three students: Zina Safin Suleiman, Sana Dawood Suleiman, and Sahar Fawaz Younis.
This innovative project involved creating a precise three-dimensional model of the Geomatics Engineering Department. The external structure was captured using drone-based photogrammetry, while the internal structure was modelled using terrestrial laser scanning. The resulting point clouds from both sources were integrated and aligned spatially, enabling a seamless evaluation of the consistency between the indoor and outdoor data.
