On 13 May 2025, during the opening ceremony of the “Falling Walls Lab” event under the theme Breaking Barriers Towards Innovation, Asst. Prof. Dr Kamaran Younis M. Amin, President of Salahaddin University-Erbil, delivered a speech in which he affirmed the university’s full support for student innovators.
Below is an excerpt from his speech:
“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Dear guests, esteemed academics, and beloved students,
I warmly welcome you all on behalf of Salahaddin University. We are pleased that our university is an academic partner in this international event, which is being held under the title Breaking Barriers Towards Innovation (Falling Walls Lab) for the second consecutive year.
Today’s gathering is a celebration of creativity and a testament to the potential of our students and youth in the Kurdistan Region. We must take pride in these students whose ideas have been selected and are being presented on this stage.
Innovation is the power that transforms dreams into reality and ideas into solutions. Salahaddin University is proud to currently have the highest number of students and graduates engaged in innovative and creative ideas. To all participating students, remember that every innovation begins as a simple idea. Regardless of its scale, every idea has the power to bring change—not only for you but for future generations.
In order to strengthen the culture of innovation at Salahaddin University, we have established a special committee, in collaboration with the Career Development Centre (CDC), to bring together and support student innovators.
In conclusion, I would like to thank the organisers of this remarkable event and express my appreciation to our partners and sponsors, including Kurdistan Foundation, Growfin, Orange Corners, Cihan Bank, Haji Idris Surchi Charitable Foundation, and Multimedia Agency. I wish you all continued success.”
