On Tuesday, 18 June 2025, Prof. Dr Kamaran Younis M. Amin, President of Salahaddin University–Erbil (SUE), welcomed Dr Younis Bahram, President of the Kurdish-German University, in the presence of vice presidents from the universities of Hawler Medical, Erbil Polytechnic, and Soran, alongside members of the Kurdistan Board of Universities. The visiting delegation also included Dr Mohammed Mahwi, Dr Sherko Hama-Amin Qadir, Dr Barwa Rasul, and Dr Dastan Jamal.
At the outset of the meeting, the SUE President expressed his delight at the visit and extended his best wishes for the success of the Kurdish-German University, describing the existence of such a Kurdish institution in Germany as a source of pride for all.
In further discussions, he emphasised the importance of formalising academic cooperation through a memorandum of understanding between SUE and the Kurdish-German University to facilitate joint scientific and educational collaboration.
He also proposed the initiation of a memorandum of understanding with the Kurdish diaspora and encouraged further coordination in this regard.
During the meeting, both Dr Sherko Hama-Amin and Dr Mohammed Mahwi provided insights into the Kurdish-German University, highlighting its significance as a unifying academic institution for Kurds and stressing the need for collective support to ensure its continued growth and success.
On his part, Dr Younis Bahram, President of the Kurdish-German University, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception by the SUE President and acknowledged the vital support required from SUE to help facilitate the university's development.
The Kurdish-German University is composed of three core departments, including a dedicated Kurdish Studies Department, where all instruction is delivered in Kurdish. Teaching at the university is conducted in Kurdish, German, and English.
