The Kurdistan Accrediting Association for Education (KAAE) convened a seminar entitled “Educational Efficiency: From Outputs to Impact” at Salahaddin University-Erbil (SUE) on 24 November 2025. The event was highly attended, with the Presidents of numerous public and private universities across the region joining the President of the KAAE for this significant session.
The seminar commenced with an opening address delivered by Professor Dr Kamaran Younis Mohammed Amin, President of SUE. Dr Amin welcomed the attendees, stating: “On behalf of the University Council of SUE, we extend a warm welcome. We are pleased to participate today in this vital quality-assurance event, ‘Educational Efficiency: From Outputs to Impact,’ organised by the KAAE.” He proceeded to define accreditation as a formal, rigorous process by which an independent and recognised body evaluates an institution, programme, or organisation to confirm adherence to established standards of educational quality.
The President underscored the critical importance of accreditation, which lies in establishing assurance in quality and institutional credibility, and verifying that study programmes adhere to professional and academic benchmarks.
Furthermore, it prepares graduates with the necessary knowledge and competencies in their fields, in line with globally recognised standards. Accreditation plays a fundamental role in setting strategic plans for programmes and maintaining an ongoing evaluation process to address weaknesses and reinforce commitment to quality enhancement. This holistic approach, he noted, ultimately strengthens students’ passion for study and research and improves their ability to transfer and complete their education at international universities.
Dr Amin also emphasised SUE’s proactive prioritisation of accreditation efforts from the outset. He noted that the first preparatory workshop on this subject was held on 17 October 2024, and was led by Dr Hunar Eisa.
Following this workshop, a dedicated committee of 30 staff members—comprising academics, students, and administrators—was officially formed. Since then, SUE has worked diligently towards achieving Initial Accreditation.
The institution is currently focused on the first of these phases, the Eligibility stage, before intensifying efforts to progress to the subsequent Candidacy stage. In conclusion, the President expressed sincere appreciation to the KAAE for selecting SUE as the venue for this important seminar and extended his thanks and best wishes for continued success to the organisers of the event.
