
Dr Mahmoud Sardar Salam, an instructor at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, has participated as a referee in two of the largest Taekwondo championships in the United States, covering both North and South America.
Serving as the sole representative of Iraq and Kurdistan, Dr Salam officiated at the prestigious Open Canada Taekwondo Championship and the U.S. Open Taekwondo Championship. His performance as a referee was met with great success and recognition.
At the Open Canada Taekwondo Championship, which featured around 2,000 athletes and 40 referees, Dr Salam was distinguished as the best referee in the male category. Similarly, at the U.S. Open Taekwondo Championship, where nearly 3,000 athletes and 50 referees took part, he performed his duties with excellence. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was awarded the Best Referee Award by the head of the referees' committee.
