On 3 February 2026, and in the presence of Dr Pshtywan Sadiq, Member of the Political Bureau and Head of the Erbil Governorate Organising Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party; Dr Zana Mala Khalid, Head of Branch Two (PDK); Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil; Prof Dr Amir Chali, Deputy Minister of Higher Education; Mr Ahmed Kani, Head of the Directorate of Studies; and Prof Dr Kamaran Younis Mohammedamin, President of SUE, an official ceremony was held to honour 167 professors.
At the opening of the ceremony, the President of SUE delivered a speech highlighting that promotion to the academic title of Professor represents an important milestone in advancing academic fields. He emphasised that professors, as a distinguished intellectual elite, can make a strong and positive impact on governmental institutions through their expertise and scientific research, and serve as a driving force for the progress of Kurdistan.
