On 13 May 2025, Salahaddin University-Erbil (SUE) hosted the Falling Walls Lab event today, with the participation of Asst. Prof. Dr Kamaran Younis M. Amin, President of SUE, and the presence of Mr Amanj Bradosti, Head of the Aso-Zanko District Committee, alongside several university council members, including Asst. Prof. Dr Shalaw Abdulkhaliq, Director of the Centre for Academic and Intellectual Development, and Mr Hussein Ahmed Mustafa, Director of the Career Development Centre (CDC). The event also welcomed university lecturers and students, as well as a large number of participants and graduates from across the Kurdistan Region.
At the opening of the event, the President of the University welcomed the attendees on behalf of Salahaddin University’s council. He expressed his pleasure that the university, through its Career Development Centre, is once again an academic partner in this internationally recognised event.
In his speech, Asst. Prof. Dr Kamaran Younis stated:
“Today we gather to witness ideas born from innovation. This is undeniable evidence of the capacity and creativity of the youth in our region. We celebrate those whose ideas have been selected to be presented on this stage. Innovation turns dreams into reality and transforms ideas into solutions. It is a source of pride that Salahaddin University currently hosts the largest number of students and graduates engaged in innovation and creative thinking.”
The university president concluded by thanking the event organisers, and extended appreciation to the event’s partners and sponsors, including Kurdistan Foundation, Growfin, Orange Corners, Cihan Bank, the Haji Idris Surchi Charitable Organisation, and Multimedia Agency.
It is worth noting that Falling Walls Lab serves as a platform for young innovators to present their ideas. This year, following a scientific review and selection process, 36 ideas were approved for presentation. Each presenter was given three minutes to pitch their innovation. At the end of the event, the top three finalists were announced. These winners will travel to Berlin, Germany, to further present their ideas and compete on the international stage.
