Prof. Dr Saber Wasman and Dr Arshad Yaseen, lecturers at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, visited China with the aim of participating in several training courses and seminars on reducing poverty rates and building economic infrastructure in rural areas.
The programme was organised by the International Poverty Reduction Centre in China (IPRCC) and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.
During their visit, they took part in a number of activities, the most important of which included:
1. Participating in several seminars and activities in Beijing.
2. Visiting a number of agricultural industrial zones in the Guangxi region.
3. Meeting with government and academic officials to learn about the state’s approach to supporting the agricultural sector.
4. Field visits to important agricultural areas such as rice and tea cultivation and production.
5. Finally, building connections and coordination amongst participants from nine different countries, with the purpose of establishing links with their universities and conducting future joint academic cooperation.
