Study Abroad
At Salahaddin University-Erbil, we take pride in the academic growth and international engagement of our lecturers and researchers. Nearly 400 staff members have received support from local programs such as the KRG's Human Capacity Development Program (HCDP) and HCED to pursue MSc and PhD studies abroad, mainly in the UK and USA. Many have also been awarded international scholarships like Fulbright, DAAD, and others.
The university also funds research abroad through the “Split-Side” program, allowing PhD candidates to complete 6 to 12 months of practical research overseas—currently, 32 - 35 candidates are preparing to travel, mostly to Europe. Additional opportunities include post-doctoral placements after two years of service and one-year sabbatical leaves for international research collaboration. Many scholars also self-fund their studies abroad. Today, Salahaddin University proudly hosts over 500 internationally qualified staff, strengthening both our academic excellence and global connections.
