
Salahaddin University President in international conference in USA
Invited by the American Embassy in Iraq and American Consulate in Erbil, the University president Dr Ahmed Dezaye participated in the annual conference of NAFSA organization in Washington, USA.
NAFSA is an educational institute in the USA, which arranges annual conferences in which education and higher education experts from all over the world take part. This year Salahaddin University Erbil (SUE) was invited.
Speaking to Zanco Press, SUE president said that the purpose of this visit is to strengthen academic relations with other universities – which will help internationalize the University and opens opportunities for teachers and students in higher education, particularly in terms of academic exchange. Also, this is an opportunity for getting benefit from academic programmes in the USA.
In the conference, more than 3000 academics participated distributed on 100 conference halls. In a panel, the University president discussed the programmes of SUE with the American universities which he hoped they could develop further.
Dr Dezaye also said that they have been fortunate to have been included among the international organisations in the world particularly QS, which he wished they would continue.
In the last days of the conference, SUE president was welcomed by the American officials from the education and higher education sector, in which they discussed the consolidation of relations with American universities. The president showed the willingness to welcome the American students at SUE in the fields of language, archaeology, history, geography and political sciences.
In a seminar a number of American dignitaries participated among whom Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell, to whom the SUE president sent the University logo.
Later, SUE president privately met with the director of NAFSA in which they mentioned ways to enhance academic relations, and the president presented the University logo to the NAFSA director and wished the continuation of such meetings.
