Today, 5th March, marks the 34th anniversary of the great March 1991 Uprising, which began in the city of Rania—the Gateway to the Uprising—with the support of the Peshmerga forces and the freedom-loving people of Kurdistan.
On that day, the free and courageous Kurdish people stood face to face against one of the most brutal dictatorial regimes in history. This uprising became a symbol of resistance and sacrifice in our nation's history.
On this historic day, we extend our warmest congratulations to all Kurds across Kurdistan. We also bow our heads in respect and remembrance of the martyrs of Kurdistan, who gave their lives for our freedom.
