"The 21st of February is World Mother Language Day, first declared on 17 November 1999, by UNESCO.
"Language plays an important and influential role in the life of every nation and is one of the strongest means to protect the foundation of nations. On this occasion, I warmly congratulate all teachers, employees, and students, especially those of Kurdish language departments.
"We must think about the development of the Kurdish language, and also prevent its marginalization. This is a serious and an important task and it is the priority of university teachers and students.
"On this important occasion, we need to commemorate the teachers, intellectuals, and writers of the university who have spoken and worked for the sake of the Kurdish language and played a significant role in preserving, teaching, and promoting it.
"I call upon the teachers, intellectuals, and experts of Salahaddin University, like you have fulfilled your duty in the past, to serve the Kurdish language in the future and address the shortcomings in Kurdish linguistics. The University is willing to offer necessary assistance and coordination in this respect.
