Health and Safety

Directorate of Health and Safety at Salahaddin University – Erbil in collaboration with Chemistry Department, College of Science held a workshop on 29, 30 April, 2019 at Central Library, organized as an activity for World Day for Health and Safety. The workshop mainly focused on the importance of health and safety in workplace. In two days, several seminars were took place. After registration, Dr. Media Noori Abdullah warmly welcomed the attendants, then she delivered her presentation. Her first seminar was about the importance of health and safety in workplace especially at university and she briefly highlighted history of IOSH system for health and safety. Her second seminar was about the first aid during incidents and at the end there was a short video about for several types of injuries at site job. After a short break, the third seminar was delivered by Dr. Dotsha Jaleel Rahim on assessment and identification of common hazards in workplace. There was a practical activity for the participants to spot common hazards in workplace. Second day of workshop was about hazards that academics will face due to their nature of work. First, most importantly, levels of voice and its importance for academics presented by Mr. Goran Mohammed Faqe, lecturer at Art and Fine Institute, secondly how to protect yourself against hacking, stealing data and producing malware presented by Mr. Nawzad Nooraddin, lecturer at College of Science. Finally, third seminar presented by Dr. Hiwa Mohammed, lecturer at College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, about physical training and well-being. There was Questions and Answers after each seminars presented.
