Introduction and aims:
Recent studies indicated a sharp increase in the rate of new cancer records in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. Yearly around 6000 cases of cancer are recorded only in Kurdistan Region; however, the rate in Iraq is devastating as more than 25000 new cases are recorded in 2018 according to the world health organization. The newly published articles in Duhok for instance, indicating the cancer rate duplication and triplicate in the recent years. In Basrah, however, the literatures indicated an outbreak hit of Cancer in the city rich of oil.
Nevertheless, the lack of consolidated data with evidential records makes study of Cancer epidemiology a challenge in Iraq. The scattering of records throughout years of indications burdened the efforts of robust insight into the incidence, prevalence and statistical analysis of Cancer cases in Iraq and Kurdistan. Thus, the necessity for developing research outcome in parallel with infrastructure expansion is a must. The need for clinical research and medical sciences investigations become a demand. This is to ensure the quality and sustainability of the facilities provided to the community.
Research in the fields of oncology and cancer epidemiology is valid tool and evidential fact to monitor, validate and accredit cancer services for the community. Therefore, Salahaddin University Research Center (SURC) with the Biology Department of College of Education at Salahaddin University are to propose the organization of (Cancer and Oncology Research Endeavour Symposium) (CORE Symposium).
CORE as an initiative symposium is to accommodate all clinical doctors, practitioners, medical researchers, and clinical scientists in the field of cancer and oncology together to build a robust bridge between science and medicine, clinics and research, patients and doctors, community and medical families. CORE provides a platform for the researchers, academicians, doctors and clinical practitioners to share their case reports, articles, ideas and publications. SURC throughout organizing CORE symposium tries to take the privilege in accommodating the top researchers of the region. This is in addition to welcoming the international excellences in order to bridge the exchange of science and medical research between the master minds of the fields.
CORE symposium will be the first huge cancer and oncology event that gathers international and local medical practitioners, clinic researchers, and medical scientists in the country. Translational and innovative medicine with scientific approach is the main theme of the symposium. However, the aims of the symposium are:
- Introducing the latest research and endeavor in the field of Oncology
- Presenting the recent medical advances and innovative approaches in Cancer Biology.
- Exhibiting the trends toward diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
- Discuss the possible solutions for the obstacles toward clear knowledge of Cancer and Oncology.
- Initiating campaign and awareness against Cancer by connecting media and scientists with medical practitioners.
- Involving public in the cancer research support
The CORE will accept papers in the following fields:
Cancer Biology | Molecular Biology of Cancer |
---|---|
Cancer Epidemiology | Etiology of Cancer |
Cancer Incidence and Prevalence | Cancer Radiology |
Cancer Diagnosis and Prevention | Cancer BioChemistry |
Cancer Treatment Approaches | Nanotechnology Approach for Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment |
Cancer Relation with Other sciences | Pathology of Cancer |

The Keynote Speakers for the Symposium will be announced later.
In addition to the Keynote Speaker sessions, the symposium will also include exhibitions, abstract submissions, and poster presentations.
