Dr. Ahmed Anwar Dezaye, the President of Salahaddin University signed an agreement with University of Cagliari in Sardinia, Italy. In the meeting a working group headed by Shekh Awat Barznji participated in the meeting

The meeting participants discussed the possibility of opening oil and petrochemical engineering department in Salahaddin University.

The University of Cagliari enjoys strong relations with Europe's largest oil refineries in Cagliari city. Cagliari University expressed willingness to accept Masters and PhD students and participate in joint PhD programmes to prepare the necessary staff for opening oil and petrochemical engineering department in Salahaddin University. This is very important step after the increasing oil production and refinery activities in the Kurdistan Region.
