In the presence of Dr. Ahmed Anwar Dezaye, the President of Salahaddin University, and a number of teachers, students and artists, the Department of Cinema in the College of Fine Arts, organized the first Students' Film Festival.

The University President made a speech and commended the teachers and students of the Department of Cinema for organizing the festival. He hoped that this will become a trend in the Department to enable students to present their final dissertations as short films.

The University President also said that the Festival showcases 12 short films written and directed by the students and teachers of the Department of Cinema. The final works are the product of students' hard work in the last four years as university students and they are the outcome of the theoretical knowledge they have gained in the course of their studies. He added that the aim of the College of Fine Arts in Salahaddin University is to present our artistic works to the rest of the world and raise talents and skills to develop art in Kurdistan.
