Dr Shwan Omar, a lecturer from Salahaddin University, took part in the final seminar for the AgrIaraq Project, which was held in Baghdad. The project had been delivered by the French Embassy in cooperation with Al-Mansour University and a consortium of Iraqi universities.
The project's work over its two and a half year duration addressed critical themes including climate change, salinisation, water crisis and scarcity, and drought, while also proposing practical solutions to these challenges.
The initiative produced excellent results through comprehensive field work, academic research papers, and a series of training courses. Future plans for the project include enrolling several Master's and PhD students under the joint supervision of Iraqi and French advisers.
