Prof. Dr Nermin Ali Amin, a faculty member in the Department of Archaeology, College of Arts, Salahaddin University-Erbil, has been awarded the prestigious French distinction of the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.
It is worth noting that, in her capacity as an archaeologist, she received the honour on 16 June 2026 at the Erbil Citadel, where the distinction of L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight Rank) was conferred upon her by the French Institute of the Near East (IFPO).
The medal was awarded by the French Minister of Culture, represented by the Consul General of France in Erbil.
This title and decoration are awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to culture and the arts, whether within France or abroad.
The awarding of this distinction to Prof. Dr Nermin Ali Amin is a recognition of her sustained efforts and contributions in the field of archaeology and of her role in strengthening archaeological and cultural cooperation between Kurdistan and France, which is regarded as part of the broader mission of preserving humanity’s cultural heritage worldwide.
