Dr Ahmed the Presidend of Salahaddin University welcomed Dr Srud al-Maqdasi a KRG MP and the Head of Syriac Department at Salahaddin University-Erbil.
In the meeting, in which the lecturers of the department were present, he highlighted the support SUE has offered to develop the department. Therefore, the presidency of SUE was thanked for having established the department.
It was also resolved that a strategic center for Syriac language should be established. Eventually, it was decided that the second conference on Syriac language will be held in Germany.
It is worth mentioning, that SUE is the first university in the Kurdistan Region to have a department for Syriac language.
