Dr. Ahmed Anwar Dezaye, the President of Salahaddin University, received Mr. Hitoshi Yazaki, the First Secretary in the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad. The University President welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of academic relations with Japanese universities to utilize the advances achieved by the Japanese academic institutions. The University President suggested that students from Kurdistan should benefit from Japanese scholarships allocated to Iraq. The Japanese Embassy's First Secretary accepted the University President's suggestion and stated that students from Kurdistan can benefit from Japanese scholarships; adding that students can apply directly and do the interview in Erbil. He also stated that in November a Japanese delegation will visit Salahaddin University and present a seminar on the Japanese developments in higher education and other areas. The meeting participants also talked about the Japanese companies' participation in the construction of the new campus for Salahaddin University.
