Dr. Ahmed Anwar Dezaye, the President of Salahaddin University, and Dr. Muhammad Shakir, Dean of College of Islamic Studies, visited Professor Mustafa Zalmi, a great Kurdish Thinker and academician, to deliver Salahaddin University Council‘s letter. In the meeting they wished a good health for Professor Zalmi and asked him to accept Salahaddin University‘s honorary doctorate as an acknowledgement for his courageous contributions to the Islamic and legal thought and the sensitive issues over the last forty years and for his leading role in the amendments to the Personal Status Law, considered the best law in the wider region. Professor Zalmi expressed his joy for the gratitude extended to him and his services by Salahaddin University and said he will, wholeheartedly, accept the award. In the near future the honorary doctorate will be presented to Professor Zalmi in a public ceremony. It is worth mentioning that this is the second honorary doctorate awarded by Salahaddin University. The first honorary doctorate was awarded to ismail beşikçi, the Turkish thinker known for his pro-Kurdish stance.
