Dr. Ahmed Anwar Dezaye, the President of Salahaddin University, received Mr. Angus McKee, the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region. In the meeting the President of Salahaddin University provides a brief historical background of Salahaddin University as the foundational academic institute in the Kurdistan Region. He also thanked the British Consulate General for their continuous support in the last few years through the British Council and in cooperation with various British universities. The University President stated that our students who have graduated in the British universities are making valuable contributions to Salahaddin University. He emphasized the importance of the continuation of cooperation between Salahaddin University and the British Council.
The British Consul General expressed his satisfaction with the achieved developments in Salahaddin University and thanked the University President for the facilitation they provide to Iraqi universities in the Middle and South of the country; such as Mosul, Tikrit and Anbar universities. He added that the British Consulate is ready to strengthen the academic and scientific relations between Salahaddin University and the British universities; to enable Salahaddin University to benefit from their experiences and developments. In addition he discussed the possible participation of the British companies in the construction of the new Salahaddin University Campus.
At the end of the meeting Salahaddin University President stated that Salahaddin University wishes to organize a seminar for the Consul General to talk about the current situation of Iraq and Kurdistan Region and the international war on terror, in which University teachers and students can participate.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Saman Hussein, Director of Language Center in Salahaddin University, participated in the meeting.
