In the College of Languages, the Persian language assessment test known as Persian TOEFL was carried out for the first time. In the opening ceremony, SUE president Dr Ahmed Dezaye, Iran Consul General in Erbil Mortaza Abbadi, and a number of teachers and students were present.
This is a mutual academic project between SUE and Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. The test can be used for obtaining the academic title for Persian and Kurdish Department’s prospective teachers, students who pursue further studies in Iran and higher education candidates in Persian Department and Kurdish Department.
Also, the project will help SUE achieve better rankings. Following the test, there will be a Persian language course at SUE which will last for 120 hours. It will be the first time in Iraq and Kurdistan Region to arrange an academic course like that.
At the end of the ceremony, SUE president and Iran Consul General expressed delight to have undertaken the project and they showed willingness to foster the academic process in KRG, particularly among the KRG and Iranian universities.
