Social media platforms offer a new type of media work. These platforms have imposed a new media environment and a different media reality, thanks to the features and services that digital media, including social media, enjoy that are not available in traditional media. Social media presents both opportunities and challenges, in terms of: Media practice professionally, and its repercussions on the individual and society, and forms communication and social habits stemming from practice on these platforms, especially in terms of the challenges produced by social media for the individual and society. Hence, in awareness of the repercussions of this media on society and their daily lives, especially the youth group, we focus in this scientific workshop on the necessity of the beneficial and responsible use of digital media by providing university students with the principles of media education in order to use and interact fruitfully with social media platforms.
