about us

This department was opened with the foundation of Salahaddin University in 1976 in one of the most (Charming, delightful, quaint, contemporary, modern feel, exciting, lively) city (Sulaimaniah) in the region. At beginning, the department aimed only at preparing undergraduate  students (UG). Nowadays, tens of UG and postgraduate (PG) students enroll every year. Students take full time laboratories through each academic year of study. Several seminars, workshops and conference are held for both UG and PG students and academic staff. This is in addition to publishing papers of continuous research. We are aiming to qualify and equip our graduated students with knowledge and tools needed in the workforce of the city of Erbil and the region.

UG students take two semesters containing eight modules per year which are highly satisfactory according to the higher education system. Students have to complete four academic years successfully to be given bachelor degrees. However, PG study depends on the respective program. MSc students should be able to take and complete eight modules and write a dissertation successfully during 24 months. However, PhD candidates have only three years to cover all the work successfully.
